Weather Update

Hi All,

The lecture will be held inside tonight. The parking area will be a little boggy.

For those who are travelling or are at risk of road closures/flooding please don't feel any pressure to come in.

Come in a little earlier next week with course fees and vaccination certificates.

I will send a follow up to those who were unable to make it to cover anything missed.

Kennel cough notice

Hi All,
We have been notified of a beginners dog attending training on the 15th of November that has since become ill with suspected kennel cough. Training was held outside on this night.

While we train outside the risk of transmission of a contagious illness like kennel cough is reduced but not impossible.

If your dog shows symptoms and you are concerned please discuss this with your vet. Should you obtain a diagnosis of a transmissible illness such as kennel cough and you have attended the grounds please let us know.

Please follow the advice of your vet and keep your dog at home. Generally it's a quarantine period of 14 days but this can vary.

Dogs NSW have the following guidelines for vaccinations:

Core Vaccines (C3) cover life threatening diseases, such as distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus.

· Non-core vaccines cover diseases that may arise and are useful in response to an outbreak or high risk area - includes Kennel Cough, Tetanus, Leptospirosis, Corona Virus, etc.

· Titre Testing is acceptable in place of a C3 vaccination in older dogs (from 4-5 years) for core diseases (Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus) and if showing a positive response do not need to re-vaccinate or re-Titre Test for 3 years. (08/20)

RECOMMENDED VACCINATION SCHEDULE

Vaccination C3:

1st 6-8 weeks of age

2nd 10-14 weeks of age

3rd 16-18 weeks of age

4th 12-15 months of age and every 3-4 years thereafter.

Non-core vaccinations, eg, Kennel Cough, relatively short acting vaccination requiring annual inoculation to be administered in response to an outbreak or high risk situation such as subject to accommodation in a Boarding Kennel.

Please ensure you keep an eye on your dog and if you suspect your dog may be contagious its best to be cautious and stay home.

Especially as we are coming into the holiday period and people may be leaving their dogs in boarding facilities it may be time to ensure your dog is up to date on vaccinations.

As a recent beginniner you know we check vaccinations of all dogs that attend however vaccinations aren't always 100% effective so if you have any concerns best to get them checked out.
