Dogs ACT INAUGURAL Grooming Competition

Judge:

Ms. Linda Buckley

 

Classes: Novice - for those with less than three years of experience.

Intermediate - for those who have won a Novice class or have accumulated over two (2) years of grooming experience.

Advanced or Champion - for those who have won an Intermediate class with four (4) or more competitors, and Groomers with four (4) or more years of grooming experience.

 

Model dogs must be delivered by 11:00 AM for Judging.

Pre-judging begins at 8 AM.

AM Session starts at 8:30 AM.

PM Session will not commence before 12:00 PM.

AM: Salon Freestyle, Scissoring, and Spaniel/Setter Model dog.

PM: Hand stripping, Poodle, Asian Fusion.

Rules:

Contestants, along with their dogs and tools, must be present in the ring 30 minutes before the competition begins.

Upon completion of grooming (when the allocated time is up), all hair and grooming tools must be cleared from the table. A colored tablecloth may be placed under your dog to enhance its trim. A comb of your choice should be positioned at the front of the table for the judge. The dog should be stacked or standing for the judges.

Contestants' tablecloths must NOT display sponsorship or business names.

Contestants' grooming attire must NOT feature sponsorship and business names.

Contestants are expected to set a positive example for others.

Contestants are prohibited from conversing with other contestants and the audience. Those found violating this rule may face disqualification or forfeiture of their award.

Contestants are not permitted to use electronic devices or mobile phones in the ring during the competition; only timekeeping is allowed.

Contestants exhibiting aggressive language or rough handling towards dogs and judges will be disqualified immediately.

All judges' decisions are final, and any complaints must be submitted in writing along with a fee of $250 to lodge the grievance.

DOGS 

  • Dogs must be of an age appropriate for competition. Although each dog is individual, the suggested appropriate age is between approximately 1 year and 10 years.

  • Dogs must have 6 weeks coat or sufficient coat to make a significant difference

  • Must appear healthy, in good condition and free of infectious disease and parasites.

  • Must not be in season, pregnant or nursing.

  • Must not show signs of viciousness or aggression.

  • Must not be left unattended.
